Healing Mental Illness and Trauma

Providing Support for individuals who suffer from mental illness and trauma

Sekhmet Hub is a unique online presence for all individuals, but men in particular, who have led a life of victimisation and abusing of others.

This is about healing and transformation. Sekhmet is an ancient powerful Egyptian Goddess who represented war, pestilence, and healing. Thus, we with the notion that perpetrators of violence against others (women and children in particular) are literally at war with themselves, usually without realising. They are literally suffering with internal pestilence (spiritual and emotional decline). But they are also capable of being healed from the inside out. This is what Sekhmet Hub is all about.

TYPES OF TRAUMA

There are many types of trauma, most are subconscious

On this page we will highlight some of the ways we are all affected by trauma. The key is to accept the fact that most of the time we are not aware of the actual trauma. It takes some level of counselling to help us realise the root cause. This is a very necessary step toward healing.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

“Trauma is hell on earth. Trauma resolved, is a gift from the gods.”

Understanding Your Childhood and lifetime Traumata.

We can all agree that taking the first steps toward healing trauma can be the most difficult part of the process. First, one must recognise that trauma exist. And this can be done by having a general understanding of trauma. So how is trauma created. And what is it exactly. Trauma in basic terms is the lasting emotional response that often results from living through a distressing event. Then there is the response to the trauma. The response is usually a way of being that is developed over a long period of time, one that compensates the vitality and affinity that was lost during the time of the trauma.

3 basic steps tend to go something like this:

  • There is an event that occurs, where we lacked the full comprehension of what it actually means. Childhood traumas tend to start somewhere between the ages of 5 and 7

  • Then there is the what we made it mean. In other words, the way in which we interpreted the event. This determines the emotional impact

  • Thirdly the emotional impact, devastating as it may have been, propels us into safe mode. In this state we literally create a way of coping and dealing with the trauma

Types of Abuse

Abuse can take many forms

Some common forms of abuse include:

  • Physical Abuse

  • Mental Abuse

  • Emotional Abuse

  • Sexual Abuse

  • Discriminatory Abuse

  • Financial Abuse

Let’s talk abut this.

Some people have psychological problems and have trouble controlling their anger and their actions. Some adults grew up in homes where people weren’t nice to each other, and this is how they learned to behave. But that doesn’t mean that everybody that experiences abuse, treats others that way.

We would like to hear your points of view too.
